The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers is the oldest club in the world - the Group was established in 1744 and the course in 1891. Many times host to The Open, the course is perhaps the fairest test of a golfer’s ability to play links golf. Punishing rough awaits any errant shots but the best players will thrive. Numerous great holes, but the 10th, a 471 yard par four, is exceptional. As a special feature of the course, the looped layout means that the wind differs at every hole! In July 2013, Muirfield will stage the Open Championship for the sixteenth time.
Visitors are welcome Tuesdays and Thursdays. Handicap certificate required (maximum 18 men, 24 women). Book tee times in advance.
