Bannockburn

Bannockburn is the battlefield site where the fate of the nation of Scotland was decided when Robert the Bruce and his army defeated the army of Edward II of England on 23 and 24 June 1314.  Now, in the Heritage Centre close to the Borestone, Bruce's command post for the battle, you can experience the epic encounter in an exciting audio-visual show and exhibition.  You can also get a glimpse of the world through Bruce's eyes when you try on a wonderful reproduction of his famous battle helmet.  Bannockburn is arguably the most famous battle to be fought and won by the Scots in Scotland and has long been at the core of the Scottish national identity.
