This award winning five-star underground attraction is one of Edinburgh’s most famous Closes on the Royal Mile. It is a curious network of streets, town houses and rooms – all underground – a time capsule of four centuries of life in Edinburgh’s Old Town and an important piece of Edinburgh’s rich history. Although built over in 1753, today there are trips through the vaults, with its small houses and spaces, with guides regaling visitors with ghost stories, character re-enactments, and tales of life in Edinburgh between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. On your tour you will see one of the best examples of 17th century housing in Scotland and walk in centuries-old footsteps along Mary King's Close.
