Gladstone's Land

Gladstone's Land was the home of a prosperous Edinburgh merchant in the 17th century and is one of the best surviving examples of an Old Town house with its ground floor arcade completed around 1620. It is decorated and furnished with great authenticity to give visitors an impression of life in Edinburgh's Old Town some 300 years ago.  Step back in time to bustling and turbulent 17th century Edinburgh and explore Thomas Gladstone’s land and the lives of his tenants.  View six display rooms furnished with objects of the period, including an original painted ceiling, to give you a flavour of life in the 17th century.
