With 2.5 million people – or half the population of Scotland – living within 2 hours of Scotland’s Capital, Edinburgh is well served by its international airport, railway stations and road network.

Airport

Edinburgh Airport is Scotland's capital airport and one of the fastest growing in the UK. Situated just 13 km from the City Centre and 17km from the port, more than 40 airlines serve 100-plus destinations worldwide including Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Munich, Frankfurt and New York. Nine million passengers a year pass through the airport – figures which are set to grow as Scotland's international connections develop. Trains

Edinburgh is easy to reach by train, with the east coast link being one of the fastest intercity railways in the UK – it takes just under 5 hours to get to Edinburgh from London. Edinburgh Waverley is the main station and is located in the city centre between the old town and modern Edinburgh. Adjacent to Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle and the Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh Waverley station serves over 14 million people each year and has great rail links to other major cities too. York, Newcastle, Inverness and Aberdeen are all about 2 hours away by train, and Glasgow is just 50 minutes away on the shuttle service which leaves Waverley train station every 15 minutes. www.nationalrail.co.uk
